Global shortcut to select a teammate (virtual office v2)
planned
J Sherwani (Pop Team)
Allow users to start a meeting with anyone in their team without having to switch to the main window. Here's a visual description of this idea:
We’ve heard some people say they’d love this, and some people say they’d hate this (because it will increase interruptions).
Please let us know your thoughts. If enough people want this, we will consider adding this as an option (so that you can opt-out of this UX if you don’t like it).

Hello all: we've now got an exciting design prototype for this that we'd love to show you to get your thoughts on. If you're interested in learning more, please find a time via https://calendly.com/pop-design/pop-designs, and Hubert (our designer) and I can walk you through our latest ideas and get your feedback. We've focused most of our energy so far on making the meeting experience great, and now we're expanding our effort to include how to get into conversations quickly. We're looking forward to speaking with you!

As an engineer who "pairs" quite frequently on a daily basis with other engineers and teammates, I would LOVE this feature!
I use Discord sometimes but it doesn't have screen annotations so end up using Zoom most of the time, but the friction is definitely there.

Like in discord or houseparty, it would be awesome to have "public channel" where when you join you auto join, no need for someone in the channel to "accept". You don't "knock on the door", you just enter!

Cool idea.

totally. also second the shortcut via alfred or spotlight or even a global one since screen lives in the top bar..

Tuple has https://www.alfredapp.com/ integration on macOS for this. I find it really convenient. I can type e.g. "tc a" ("tc" stands for "Tuple call") and it autocompletes to "alice@example.com". Just hit enter and my screen is shared.

I'd love for a feature like this, if it were as quick & easy as a shoulder tap, while also being easy to quickly decline or postpone. (Maybe canned responses like "give me 5 minutes" or "I'm in the middle of something, is this really urgent?")
