Modifier keys not sent properly between different OS

A friend is sharing his Screen from a Mac. I am connecting from Linux (Ubuntu 19.10).
Some modifier keys are not working well. From example when I press Alt+1 I was expecting to see the "|" character.
Instead it looks like the Alt modifier is not being sent since the typed character is "1".

We just pushed out a significant update that should fix a number of keyboard issues on Mac, Windows and Linux! You should get auto-updated, but if not:
Mac/Windows: Settings > scroll down to see if there’s an update
Linux: snap refresh screen or update via Debian
If something doesn’t work, please add a comment here: https://support.screen.so/bugs/p/keyboard-issues

Most of the comments on this ticket are for Mac -> Mac, which is a separate bug (https://support.screen.so/bugs/p/mac-shift-not-working-correctly) and is now solved. The issue between Linux and MacOS is still open.
Correction: the other bug has been re-opened.

For me, anything with the Shift key would not work. Also, the Fn key didn’t seem to work.

Pablo Martinez De La Flor: What were the host and guest OSes? What languages were each of the keyboards set to? And can you give a specific example of a Shift keystroke and a Fn keystroke that didn’t work? Thanks! 🙏

J Sherwani (Pop Team): hey we are both on MacOS Mojave. Both in English US. I even pulled up the on screen keyboard and it wasn’t showing the shift key being pressed that the person I was screensharing with was pressing. An example command was Fn + g. Also Cmd + Shift + K or Shift + S

We’ll be looking into bug this next week.

I was screensharing today with a colleague. We both were using macs with Mojave and my colleague on the other line could not do commands like
alt + shift + g
or cmd + shift + k

We saw something like this today between two Macbook Pros (both running Catalina). Lots of key combinations that use modifiers were not working (e.g. cmd-shift-T) while some others were working (e.g. cmd-opt-v). This made it hard to drive JetBrains IDE products.
