Black screen when trying to share using kubuntu 20.04

I'm unable to share my screen. It started with screen version 4.0.4, I didn't have such problems with previous versions. When I start the app then it shows that I should install and start compton. It shows the message even when compton is installed and started. And then when I try to share my screen then it just shows black screen with a mouse pointer and that's it. I'm unable to do anything. Fortunately I managed to kill screen from the terminal (which wasn't easy, as I didn't have any way to close the black window.

We just had a debug session and found the solution: after running compton, Pop needs to be restarted. We’re pushing out an update that clarifies this in the alert we show.
If you're experiencing this issue, please quit Pop, then install compton and run it, and then run Pop again.
If you're still having the issue, please post here and we'll reopen this bug.

Hello all — if you're still having this issue, please schedule a live debug session via https://calendly.com/j-pop/debug-session so we can reproduce it together. That will also help us figure out a solution. Thanks!

Any hope this might be addressed soon?

There's huge difference after switching to POP. Now whole the screen becomes white (instead of black). Nice improvement!

Hello all — is this still an issue you're facing?
If so, here are some steps that would help us debug this:
- Before you join the call, click the hamburger menu, then click the logo 8x, and the Dev Tools window should show up (along with the WebRTC Internals window, ignore that one).
- Join the call and try to share your screen
- In Dev Tools > Console, type app.store.selectSnapshot(DeviceSelect.devices).screen
- Type app.store.selectSnapshot(DeviceSelect.selectedDevice('screen'))
Paste the output from both those commands here so we can see what the app sees of your screens. The two relevant bits are the
screenId
and the sourceId

J Sherwani (Pop Team): It's not easy to execute anything when I run into this issue. I mean when it happens then I have a black screen and I can just draw on it. Nothing more than that. Alt+tab doesn't let me to switch to any other app, so I can't switch to the dev tools, to execute anything. I can't even take screenshots. The only workaround I found is I enabled dual screen and then on the other screen I executed these commands, but I suspect that entering the dual screen might have affected the app and you may see wrong values there. Nivesh Ravindran: It looks exactly the same as yours. I can draw on it, but nothing more than that.

Maciej Błaż: It sounded like it which is why I made a ticket with a video to show that it's not just an OS issue. Hopefully it will garner more attention now
